- Some of the challenges with this project were:
- The existing home was built in 1909 - electrical throughout was knob and tube, galvanized water piping, cast iron waste piping, lead water service to the home.
- The home is all plaster and lath and makes demolition more labor-intensive
- There were 3 layers of the original drop ceiling in the original kitchen, the entire ceiling was removed and re framed
- Working in a home over 110 years old, the ceiling, walls, and floor were very out of plumb. There was also an addition that tied on to the back of the house that needed to be supported with a 16 ft long header we installed in the ceiling. When the rear wall was removed the ceiling joists in the kitchen and the addition needed to be temporarily supported
